I grew up in Los Gatos, California and worked as a designer and illustrator for more than 15 years. I moved to Rome in 2004 and after a decade there I resettled in Seattle.

What medium do you use?
Pen and Ink and Acrylics

How do you stay inspired?
Art Galleries, Magazines, Nature and sometimes just walking around and people watching.

Where do you buy your art supplies?
at the Cartoleria

Do you work traditionally or digitally?
Usually half by hand and half digitally.

What color combination are you most excited about right now?
Mustard, Teal, and Chocolate Brown

What blog(s) do you read?
The New York Times, Urban Eye Blog, Pitchfork Music, Daily Candy, Apartment Therapy, DART.

Why do you like being an illustrator in 10 words or less?
The ability to make a living by creating artwork is my dream come true.

If you weren’t an illustrator, what would you be?
Maybe a dentist.

What illustration job would you love to get (your dream job)?
I saw a huge storefront window one time when I was in Paris and it was the entire campaign was done in illustration. It looked amazing and i’ve always wanted to work on a project at that scale.

Name something you do in your spare time.
painting, traveling, exploring Rome. Going to art galleries. Cooking and eating with friends is high on the list too.

What’s the strangest work experience you’ve ever had?
probably being assigned to illustrate a synapse.

What are you reading now?
Lots.

What recent book do you recommend for a good read?
A great book I recently read was The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Its the story of her very non-traditional upbringing.

Where would you like to travel to next?
Tokyo, Japan

What movie have you seen several times?
Valley Girl. Its a great-low budget cult movie from the 80’s with Nicholas Cage. I love it! and it has the best soundtrack.

Do you wear shoes when you do art?
yes. and socks too.

What do you listen to while you work?
music. all types.

If you could eat only one food, what would it be?
sushi

How do you stay in shape?
yoga and the gym

How don’t you stay in shape?
cheese and gelato

Whom would you like to meet?
Harrison Ford. I’ve always had an enormous crush on him. If I could meet any artist it would have to be Frida.
