I have lived in Edinburgh and Polmont in Scotland and Galashiels in the Scottish Borders

I use traditional (pen, ink, gouache) and digital media (illustrator & photoshop)
How do you stay inspired?
My children inspire me a lot, especially when they say funny things or make up little stories. I am also inspired by packaging, good graphic design, art, food, nature. Anything and everything really! Inspiration can come in many forms.
Where do you buy your art supplies?
I have two art stores very close to where I live which is very handy, and fatal!
Do you work traditionally or digitally?
I work both traditionally and digitally. I love the uniqueness and freedom of traditional and the flexibility, control and scope of digital so combining the two works well for me.
What color combination are you most excited about right now?
I love all colors! I like unusual combinations and bright pops of color but can’t pin point any one in particular.
What blog(s) do you read?
Print & Pattern and a whole list of others when I have time to read. I keep links to them all on my blog so that I can get to them easily
Why do you like being an illustrator in 10 words or less?
It’s the best job but it doesn’t feel like work!
If you weren’t an illustrator, what would you be?
Oh hard question because I don’t know that I’d want to do anything else but maybe a shoe maker so that I could make myself lots of shoes or a midwife so that I could help women bring their new babies into the world.
What illustration job would you love to get (your dream job)?
My dream job would be to illustrate a book (for children or any kind of book!)
Name something you do in your spare time.
I run and try to exercise regularly. I also love to bake (conflict of interests exercising and baking!)
What’s the strangest work experience you’ve ever had?
I don’t know if it’s very strange but I worked in a very large chain store in the UK selling makeup when I was still at school.
What are you reading now?
I have lots of books on the go at anyone time, mostly art books that I go back to again and agin for reference. I love my books!

Lilla Rogers “I Just Like To Make Things”
Where would you like to travel to next?
Anywhere in Australia. I still haven’t had the chance to go and explore this amazing country since we arrived. Oh and New York!!!
What’s your favorite TV show?
Hmmm, tricky, I don’t really watch a lot of tv but I do sometimes watch Masterchef when it’s on.
What movie have you seen several times?
I have seen lots of movies several times. Movies are my thing. Some that I have watched again and again are “Jack & Sarah”, “Jerry McGuire”, “Amelie” & “Jean de Florette”
Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Lola from Charlie & Lola
Who are you in “The Office”? Tim probably. Funny show but I’m not sure I’d want to be any of them ha!
What is your favorite cheese?
Brie (with pickled onions!)
If you could name a nail polish, what would you name it?
Do you wear shoes when you do art?
In summer flip flops (called thongs in Australia) and in winter slippers with as warm a lining as possible.
What do you listen to while you work?
Sometimes children’s TV, sometimes silence, sometimes a random mix of music. I love latin music but I also like a bit of Brit pop and Robert Palmer too. I have a very eclectic music taste.

I don’t have one
What do you wish your middle name was?
When I was very little people used to say to me that Zoe was a very unusual name so I pretended my middle name was Nicola because I wanted a “Normal” name. I like my name as it is now, just Zoe.
If you could eat only one food, what would it be?
How do you stay in shape?
I do a bit of running. I started a couple of years ago and ran a few races in my first year.
How don’t you stay in shape?
I have a very sweet tooth so eating cakes, biscuits and chocolate is my downfall. Processed sugar is not good!
What is your current favorite font?
I don’t have a favourite. I guess whatever suits the work at the time.
How do you take your coffee?
Black, no sugar

Gosh! So many… Jean-Michel Basquiat, Frida Kahlo, Coco Chanel, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly… The list could go on!
